I've had the distinct honor of serving you as Lancaster's first directly elected Mayor for six terms, during which I've shown my leadership ability to deliver tax breaks and key quality of life enhancements to our residents. My commitment to public safety with Men In Black and Silent Thunder, as well as derelict and abandoned building demolitions, paid off with a continued decline in crime rate. Lancaster is among the top 25 cities in California with over 100.000 population.
I'm proud of the progress made with our schools resulting in development of the Amargosa Middle School, Parkview Gymnasium and safety programs such as Safe Walk.
During my tenure as mayor I brought many jobs to Lancaster – AeroBending, Lance Camper, Rexhall Industries, Michael's Stores, Rite Aid, Federal Express, Frito Lay, Chapman Inc., Countrywide Home Loans and others. They represent thousands of new direct and support jobs for our families. Our Aerospace Office continues to help land aircraft and rocket programs.
I worked succesfully fo finally end the fighting with our neighbor Palmdale.
I'm proud of the progress we made with our JetHawks Stadium; Lancaster National Soccer Center and Big-5 Softball Facilities; Library; Performing Arts Center; Sheriff Station; New Fire Stations; Metrolink Station; parks; football field; updated Little League fields; the new Fairgrounds; and including the College Center at Challenger Hall which will ultimately lead to a four-year campus in the Antelope Valley.
