The Lancaster Redevelopment Agency was established by the City of Lancaster in 1979 - under the
California Community Redevelopment Law - to provide the necessary stimulus to reverse
deteriorating trends, remedy blight and create a new image for the community.

Redevelopment adds up to more jobs in Lancaster

AERO BENDING AND AERO SHEET METAL
As a result of the Redevelopment Agency and Regional Partnership's "Fast Track to Success" promotional event, Aero Bending and Aero Sheet Metal relocated its operations from North Hollywood to a new expanded facility in the Lancaster Business Park.   The Aero companies, which specialize in tube bending and sheet metal fabrication, have been in operation for over 50 years employing highly-skilled machinists.
RESULT:  30 NEW JOBS
Rite Aid
Job creation continues with the decision of Rite Aid Corporation to build a 1 million square foot regional distribution center and high-tech Customer Support Center on 88 acres within the Fox Field Industrial area.  This new facility will be the backbone of Rite Aid's southwest distribution network with an investment of $60-$70 million in the project.   This new state-of-the-art facility is scheduled to open in late 1999 with expansion to 1.5 million square feet within three years.
RESULT:  850 - 1,000 NEW JOBS.

Added to the City's growing industrial base is the Michael's Stores Distribution Center currently under construction within the Fox
Field Industrial area.  A major retailer of arts and crafts supplies, Michael's currently has four distribution centers and two warehouses devoted to seasonal imports.  When completed, this new 432,000 square-foot facility will be the primary distribution center for Michael's retail outlets throughout the western United States.  Construction is scheduled for completion in late spring.
RESULT:  130 NEW JOBS.

Federal Express recently relocated its regional collection and distribution center to a new facility in the Lancaster Business Park at Division Street and Avenue K-6.  This new 34,000 square foot building will provide over $250,000 in tax increment revenue to the City of Lancaster as well as continuing the City's goal of providing diversified industry and new jobs within the Lancaster Business Park.
RESULT:  60 NEW JOBS
Lance Camper Manufacturing
Lance Camper, the nation's premiere builder of truck-mounted recreational equipment, relocated to a new 110,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility on an 11.5 acre site in the Lancaster Business Park.  Lance Camper was one of the first companies to use incentives offered by the City's Enterprise Zone and can realize over $1 million in hiring tax credits over the next five years.  Relocation of Lance Camper exemplifies the Redevelopment Agency's success at providing diversified jobs for Lancaster residents.
RESULT:  150 NEW JOBS

Rexhall Industries, a major recreational motor manufacturing company, relocated its operations from Santa Clarita to 85,000 square foot facilities on a 10-acre site in the Fox Field Industrial
area.  The company was established in 1986 and grew to a level that by 1990 it was listed in Business Week's "100 Best Small Corporations."  Rexhall sells to national retailers as well as internationally.   Rexhall was attracted to Lancaster by the City's pro-business climate and, as a result, the company has continued to grow since moving to Lancaster in 1996.
RESULT:  350 NEW JOBS

Projects Under Construction

remco.jpg (18225 bytes) M & C Remco Tape Products Conpamy's new 15,600 square-foot home in the Lancaster Business Park will open June 1.  The North Hollywood manufacturer of pressure sensitive tape was attracted by the benefits of the Enterprise Zone.
Result:  17 new jobs

 

Company employees of the Frito Lay Warehouse on West Avenue L-8 will soon occupy this new 15,000 square-foot building.  The $850,000 facility will generate $150,000 in tax increment revenue to foster development of similar projects and more jobs.
Result:  30 new jobs
